The Really Inconvenient Truth
According to the Los
Angeles Times two Hollywood
conservatives have asked the
Academy of Motion Picture
Arts and Sciences to rescind the
prestigious profitable gold
Oscar statuette it gave to ex-
Vice President Al Gore two
years ago for the environmental
movie “An Inconvenient
Truth.”
Hollywood’s academy
sanctified Gore’s cinematic
message of global warming in
2007 with it’s famous statue
that enriched his earnings by
$100,000 per 85 minute
appearance and helped to
elevate the man from
Tennessee’s profile to win the
Nobel Peace Prize despite
loosing the election for
president in 2000 to a Texan
named Bush.
Before getting into politics
Gore was a newspaper man who
lived in a big house with lots of
energy driven appliances and
was beaten by Bush in his own
state of Tennessee in the
presidential race. When
someone running for the most
powerful job in the world
cannot carry his own home state
that should tell us about all we
need to know about him.
News Busters reported that
Al Gore had cancelled a high
priced speaking engagement
during the recent climate
change conference in
Copenhagen. They reported that
the Nobel Laureate had been
chosen to lecture about his new
book “Our Choice” where those
who attended would pay $1,200
a ticket for the right to meet the
Global Warming-in-Chief and
have their picture taken with
him.
According to the Danish
newspaper Berlinske the
speaking engagement was
cancelled due to unforeseen
changes to Gore’s schedule.
Around 3,000 Danes had
already purchased a ticket for
Gore’s talk that had been
planned since August and
should have taken place two
days before the climate summit
held last December. The
unforeseen changes in Gore’s
schedule probably had
something to do with what
could be called Climate Gate.
Before the above occurred
the Washington Times had
reported that NASA could be
hiding important climate
change information. The fight
over global warming was about
to cross the Atlantic with a U.S.
researcher poised to sue NASA
demanding the release of the
climate data that had landed a
lending British Center in hot
water over charges that it
skewed its data.
The Times went on to
report that a senior fellow at the
Competitive Enterprise Institute
said that NASA had refused to
provide information under the
Freedom of Information Act for
two years that would show that
the agency had shaped its
climate data and would explain
why the agency has repeatedly
had to correct its information
going back as far as the 1930’s.
In addition to the above the
director of the British Climatic
Research Unit stepped down
pending an investigation and a
scientist at Penn State
University came under fire for
their involvement in the British
e-mail exchanges that occurred.
The Penn State scientist was
asked to resign from the outer
governmental panel on climate
change due to suspicions of the
doubtful veracity of their
findings.
Forget Gore’s financial
misfortunes, forget that Miami
might be 20 feet under water
soon, and forget the thought of
polar bears floating around on
ice cubes. What is really
important is the effect that all
those inconvenient truths are
having on the image of the one
that matters.
President Barack Obama
has got to be stewing in his
juice. First those would be
crazies busted his party thrown
supposedly for the prime
minister of India and grabbed
the spotlight. Then Tiger Woods
flees his mansion barefoot,
jumps into his Escalade and
tries to knock down a tree with
the media not seemingly able to
report enough of the story. Then
Obama has to go to
Copenhagen in the middle of a
big controversy over Global
Warming. It makes one want to
cry for him.
