Armed robbery at Denmark Hardee’s

The Hardee’s Restaurant on
Heritage Highway in Denmark was
the scene of an armed robbery on
Sunday afternoon. According to
Hardee’s District Manager, Dwight
Searson, at approximately 12:55
p.m. four black males came in the
restaurant carrying weapons, two
with shotguns and two with pistols.
Searson stated the subjects took
the manager on duty to the back of
the store and took money out of a
safe. The subjects also took money
out of the two front cash registers
and the drive through window
register and then left the scene on
foot. Searson said, fortunately, no
one was hurt and a surveillance
camera was on at the time of the
robbery and they have some good
pictures.
Denmark Police Chief Leroy
Grimes said the matter had been
turned over to The South Carolina
Law Enforcement Division (SLED)
and was under investigation.
Pumpkin Patch opens

Trinity United Methodist
Church's sixth annual "Pumpkin
Patch" will open at 1 p.m.
Sunday, October 11. The patch
will be open from 10 a.m. to 7
p.m. Monday through Saturday
and from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on
Sundays through October 31.

Corps Center sponsored three days
of Health and Wellness activities
the weekend of September 25-27.
The weekend opened with a Health
and Wellness one mile Walk on the
berm. Bamberg Mayor Alton
McCollum proclaimed the
weekend Health and Wellness
weekend for the City.

Malcolm said she was excited
about the resources that the event
provided to participants. Malcolm
said she is especially grateful to the
vendors who provided the
resources. “The turnout was great
and none of this would have been
possible without the support of the
vendors, community, the churches
and businesses that made
donations to this great cause,” she
said.

According to Sheriff Ed
Darnell, his office has been
investigating numerous burglaries
around the county and three arrests
were made involving one of the
Burglaries which occurred on
Memorial Church Rd., Olar on or
around August 30.
Richard Adam Fail, 23 of Olar, was
arrested for Burglary 2nd Degree,
taken before Judge Freeman for
Bond Hearing of $20,000 with
10% option.
Andrew Robert Tyler Putnam,
23 of Olar, was arrested
for Burglary 2nd Degree and taken
before Judge Freeman for Bond
Hearing of $20,00 surety.
Andrew Louis Putnam, 50 of Olar was arrested
for Burglary 2nd Degree and taken
before Judge Freeman for a Bond
hearing of $5,000 surety.
Ehrhardt Police Report
On September 26, according
to Ehrhardt Police Chief Jim
Preacher, the Ehrhardt Police
Department, acting on a tip from
an informant concerning an
ongoing operation with the
Bamberg Sheriff’s Department,
stopped a silver grey Impala auto
driven by Adrian C. Kinard, 28
years old, of Bamberg. Crack
cocaine, marijuana and $2,217
dollars were seized. Warrants for
possession with the intent to
distribute crack cocaine were
issued for Adrian C. Kinard.
Also, charges of simple
possession of marijuana were filed
against Travis Latrell Dunbar, 28
years old, of Williston.
Mr. Dunbar was the owner of the
2005 Chevrolet Impala.
More arrests are expected in
this ongoing investigation.
Model T’s to Olar

The Town of Olar will
celebrate the Seventh Annual
Model T’s to Olar Festival on
October 16 and 17. Olar has a
special connection with Ford
Motor Company because of a
relationship Henry Ford had with
C. F. Rizer.

something everyone can enjoy.
This is our seventh festival and we
will never promote alcohol use
and it will never be allowed to be
sold by vendors during our event.
This has proven to be successful in
previous years as all ages can
enjoy our fun-filled event safely.”
“The size of the festival has grown steadily since
about 1,000 people attended the
first festival. Last year almost
3,000 people came to Olar to see
Model T’s and enjoy the small-town
atmosphere. With Gold City
joining us this year, we anticipate
this year’s crowd to double,” she said.
H1N1 Virus

Denmark-Olar District Two
Superintendent Dr. Jake Sello
informed the board that one
middle school student and one
high school student had been
diagnosed with the H1N1 Virus
(Swine Flu) and that both students
had been allowed to return to
school. Sello said he met with
DHEC officials to discuss
procedures and guidelines in the
event of an epidemic of swine flu
and DHEC asked that they be
informed of any swine flu
diagnosis in the district.
Sello said parents had
received letters with suggested
procedures to help prevent illness.
He stated that DHEC had
informed him that the swine flu
vaccine would be ready in mid-
October and that DHEC would
administer the vaccine to students
with parental approval and to
district employees if they chose to
be vaccinated.
