Mr. Samuel Broughton Baker, Jr., 58, devoted husband of Miriam Eleazer "Mimbee" Baker passed away on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at 2:12 p.m. at his home in Denmark, S.C. He was born Sept. 9, 1950, in Savannah, Ga., the son of the late Samuel Broughton Baker and the late Margaret Camp Baker of Estill. A memorial service was held on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Bethel Park United Methodist Church in Denmark.

Adelene Smith Copelan died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at the Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg. A memorial service was held Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Denmark. Mrs. Copelan was born March 11, 1905, the daughter of the late Catherine and Tillman Smith of Norway.

A memorial service for Mr. Harry Grant, 67, of Ehrhardt, was held Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Rizer Chapel United Methodist Church in Ehrhardt. Mr. Grant died August 25, 2009. He was the son of Cora Porter Grant and the late Cephus Grant.

Funeral services for Mr. Frank ‘Cutch’ Johnson, Sr., 97, Denmark were held August 27, 2009, in Capernaum Baptist Church in Denmark. Mr. Johnson died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at his residence in Denmark. Frank was born to the late Ervin and Marie Watson-Johnson on Feb. 2, 1912, in Denmark.

Funeral service for Mr. Cal Jones Jr., 82, of Denmark, were held Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Honey Ford Baptist Church in Denmark. Mr. Jones was born Oct. 2, 1926, to the late Cal and Frances Breland Jones Sr. in Hampton County.

Funeral services for Mr. Shellie Lott were held Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, in St. Phillips Apostolic Church, Olar. Mr. Lott was born Oct. 10, 1958, in Bamberg, to the late Loach Lott. And was adopted by Bishop Edmond (Sister Ruby) Dowling.

Mr. Joseph "Tim" Nelson, 29, of Bamberg, died Monday, August 24, 2009. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 29, 2009 in Denmark.

Services for Mr. Jermaine Lamont Tucker were held Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Antioch Baptist Church, Columbia.

Mr. Herbert Williams, Sr., 79, of Greer, formerly of Bamberg, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville. Graveside services were held Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, in Bamberg County Memory Gardens, Bamberg. Mr. Williams was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Bamberg to the late George Williams and the late Sadie Proveaux Williams.
