Mrs. Gertie Smoak Fogle, 90, of Cope died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in UniHealth Post Acute Care of Bamberg. Funeral services were held Friday, August 14, 2009. Mrs. Fogle was born October 19, 1918 in the Canaan Community, a daughter of the late Zack and Becky Antley Smoak.

The funeral services for Ms. Essie "Dee-Dee" Hick-Garrett, of Bamberg were held Friday, August 14, 2009 at Capernaum Baptist Church, Denmark. Ms. Garrett, daughter of the late Sammy Hicks and Ella Mae Washington-Hicks was born on April 24, 1945 in Bamberg County.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Lott Herron, 74, of Bamberg, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009. Mrs. Margie Lott Herron was born April 26, 1935, in Bamberg, to the late Frank Lott Sr. and the late Sarah Lottie Bunch Lott.

John Lewis Hunt, 80, of Bamberg, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Providence Hospital in Columbia after a short illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 18, at First Baptist Church in Bamberg. Mr. Hunt was born Dec. 8, 1928 in Cope, a son of the late Connie A. Hunt and the late Daisy Ashe Hunt.
