Funeral services for Mrs. Zelma Counts, 79, of Bamberg, formerly of Denmark, were held Friday, July 31, 2009, in Union Baptist Church. Zelma Lorraine Jordan Counts was born Jan. 1, 1930, in Bamberg County, the daughter of the late Allen and Lizzie Sojourner Jordon.

Funeral services for Derrick J. "Duke" Broxton, 35, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Denmark, were held Thursday, July 30, 2009, in Rome Baptist Church in Denmark. He was born July 22, 1974, in Bamberg, to James and Sara Broxton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Wiggins, 79, of Walterboro, formally of Islandton, were held Wednesday, July 29, 2009, in McCune Branch Baptist Church, Lodge. Ruth Wiggins was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Olar, to the late Idus and Mamie Dickerson.

Entered into rest Wednesday, July 29, 2009, Mrs. Melba Corbin Lees, 82, wife of the late Wayne Lees. Mrs. Lees was a native of Thomson, GA and lived in the Augusta area most of her life. She was a member of Denmark SC Baptist Church. A graveside funeral service was held Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Bamberg County Memorial Gardens.
