Mrs. Sybil S. Knight, 93, of Orangeburg, died Tuesday, February 3, 2009, at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 7, 2009. Mrs. Knight was born January 19, 1916, in Bamberg; the daughter of the late Edgar Counts Smoak and the late Lillian Anne Hoffman Smoak.

The remarkable 101 year life of Lois Lucile Hungerpiller of Elloree ended Sunday, February 1, 2009, at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro following a brief illness. Miss Hungerpiller was born July 19, 1907 in Augusta, Ga., the second daughter of Charles William and Lorlie Nichols Hungerpiller.

Matthew Dickerson of Olar died Sunday, February 1, 2009, in Aiken. Memorial services were held Saturday, February 7, 2009. Mr. Dickerson was born July 6, 1969, in Bamberg, a son of the late Sam and Alma Dickerson.

Mr. Emory L. Eubanks, 91, of Govan died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, in the Bamberg County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 6, 2009. Mr. Eubanks was born September 20, 1917, in Govan, a son of the late McPierce and Pharaoh Cook Eubanks.

Mrs. Doris Murdaugh Jones, 85, of Lodge, died Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2009, at her residence under the care of Palmetto Hospice of Bamberg following an extended illness. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, February 11, 2009, from Lodge United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jones was born November 11, 1923, in Lodge, and was a daughter of the late Hay Murdaugh and the late Viola Padgett Murdaugh.
