Funeral services for Mrs. Corine Brown Ward, 82, of Blackville were held Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, at Shrub Branch Missionary Baptist Church in Blackville. Mrs. Corine Brown Ward, affectionately known as "Mama Co", daughter of the late Cleo Brown and Annie Bell Bellinger Brown, was born on June 13, 1926, in Blackville.

Scotty Grooms, 48, of Ninety Six, died January 25, 2009, at his home. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 29, 2009, at Word of Life Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bamberg. Mr. Grooms was born October 5, 1960, the son of the late Marion R. and Betty Gilliam Grooms, in Bamberg.

Rowan Hope Darnell, infant daughter of David and Hilary Darnell, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009, at the Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, S.C. Rowan is survived by her parents, David and Hilary Darnell; one brother, Logan Robert, and a twin sister Hailey Marie, all of Greenwood.
