Tractor trailer collision Print E-mail

Monday afternoon, January 7, around 11:40 am just south of Olar on Hwy. 321, two tractor trailers collided with one another, bursting into flames, claiming the life of one person and injuring another sending them to a nearby hospital.

Two other tractor trailers were involved in the accident but no one else was injured. Three of the trucks were traveling south and one of the trucks was traveling north on Hwy. 321. As the northbound truck driver tried to maneuver around the log truck , one of the trucks lost a wheel and the northbound truck collided with the log truck bursting into flames. The driver of the northbound truck was pronounced dead at the scene.


Agencies responding to the scene were the Olar Fire Department, Govan Fire Department, Ehrhardt Fire Department, Denmark Fire Department, Colston Fire Department, the Bamberg County Coroner’s Office, the S.C. Highway Department, the Bamberg County Sheriff’s Department and the S.C. Highway Patrol.

At press time the accident was still under investigation.
