Funeral services for Gene James “Wyze” Anderson Jr., 37, of Bamberg were held on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Gethsemane Baptist Church, Bamberg. Mr. Anderson died on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg. Born October 20, 1975, to Eula Mae Anderson and the late Gene Anderson Sr., he was educated in the Bamberg County school system. “Wyze,” as he was known to family and friends, was employed by Augusta Fiberglass Co. in Blackville.

Mrs. Martha “Betty” Blaylock, 75, of Branchville died suddenly on Monday, July 22, 2013. Mrs. Betty was born in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Peter Clevie Valentine and Lovelle Hutto Valentine. She was a member of Branchville Christian Church, the Elks Lodge, was very active in community affairs, and loved spending time with her family. She was also the widow of the late Burns Myers and Gordon Blaylock. A memorial service was conducted Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Ott Funeral Home in Branchville with the Rev. Wayne Manning officiating.

The funeral for Mrs. Vernice Barton, 68, of Olar, was held on Monday, July 29, 2013, at St. Phillip Holiness Church, Olar, with Elder David Heyward officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Barton died on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Joyce B. “Nana” Bolin, 61, died Monday, July 22, 2013. Mrs. Bolin was born in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Joe E. Brown and Emma H. Brown. She was a member of the Bowman Southern Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing, going to the beach and spending time with her family. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Bowman Southern Methodist Church.

The funeral for Mrs. Cynthia Johanna Joyner of Chattanooga, Tenn., was held Friday, July 26, 2013, at Greater Sweet Branch Baptist Church, Olar. Mrs. Joyner died Saturday, July 20, 2013 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Cynthia was born December 4, 1981, to Jackie Scott and George Griffith in Orangeburg. She attended First Baptist Church located in Blackville. She was a graduate of Blackville-Hilda High School, class of 1999, where she met and later married her high school sweetheart, Ricky Joyner, on July 11, 2001. This union was blessed with two children. She was a fearless advocate for her son Matthew, who has autism, and volunteered countless hours of service to the Chattanooga Autism Center.

Ruby C. Milligan, 85, of Gaston, died Sunday, July 21, 2013. Funeral services were held Friday, July 26, 2013. Mrs. Milligan was born in Neeses, a daughter of the late Thurman and Eula Harsey. She was retired from Capital City Manufacturing Co. She was married to the late Daley Milligan Jr.

The funeral for Joan Martin Robinson, 83 of Orangeburg, was held Monday, July 29, 2013 in Orangeburg. Mrs. Robinson died Friday, July 26, 2013. She was born November 11, 1929 in Orangeburg, a daughter of the late Floyd Curtis Martin and the late Annie Laurie Kolb Martin. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Orangeburg and was retired from the Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Weekley A. Sandifer, 92, died on July 26, 2013 at The Oaks in Orangeburg. He was born on January 4, 1921 in Bamberg and was the son of the late George Maner Sandifer and Pearl Rice Sandifer Still. He was the widower of the late Annie Mae Jackson Sandifer. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Spring Branch Baptist Church, Bamberg. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy. He was employed by Bamberg County working with the highway maintenance department. He lived most of his life in Bamberg County. Mr. Weekley was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church, Bamberg.
