Three men arrested for robbing and shooting a Bamberg man at 1:19am, Wednesday, April 10th, were served warrants for attempted murder around 5:45am on the same morning.

The shooting occurred at the Ness Athletic Complex in Bamberg. The 19-year-old victim met who he referred to as 'his homeboy,' also known as Justyce Ellison Rouse, 18, 3 Briarcliff Drive, Charleston, at the complex. Two men, Horace Bernard Hicks, Jr., 22, and Preston Montrell Hicks, 19, both of 433 Wilson's Circle, Bamberg approached Bamberg and told him, "to give them everything."

According to the police report, the victim gave them the $30 he had in his pocket and was told to get on the ground, which was when he was shot in the right arm before the three men drove away in the victim's Mazda Tribute.

Bamberg Police were notified to come to the victim's home where Officer M. W. Strauss made a call out to alert Bamberg units to be on the lookout for the stolen vehicle. The Mazda was later found in Orangeburg County on Riley Road by Lt. R. Culler of the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office (OCSO).

The victim was taken to The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg where he stated he was not involved in any unlawful drug activity and would submit to a drug test to prove it.

Eyewitnesses of the shooting gave police, "the whereabouts of the three suspects in Orangeburg County," which was on Hudson Road." Britney A. N. Morris, 17, was charged with misprision of a felony for harboring the three men. Smoak obtained Attempted Murder warrants and with the help of Strauss and OCSO the warrants were issued.

After the three men were placed under arrest and put into Strauss's police car, Morris, "went to speak to the subjects and began to yell at them and in the process detailing the events of the evening."

The three suspects were transported to Bamberg County Detention Center. The police report stated, "further warrants for carjacking, armed robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony will be sought on Rouse, Hicks, Jr., and Hicks."
