TRMC to open Urgent Care Print E-mail
Written by Advertizer Herald, Staff Report

It appears that the City of Bamberg is one step closer to having an Urgent Care Facility. In an April 15, press release Regional Medical Center President & CEO Thomas Dandridge announced that RMC plans to open Express Healthcare – Bamberg, a medical urgent care center, within the next six weeks.

“This is something that we have been studying for some time. We had two consultants look at the feasibility of urgent care in Bamberg and we presented that information to the RMC Board of Trustees,” said Dandridge. “Last week the Board unanimously approved moving forward with leasing and renovating the former office of Dr. John Ross on McGee Street for an urgent care facility.”

“The Regional Medical Center already owns and operates two primary care offices in Bamberg County and provides obstetrical and gynecological care at the Bamberg office one day a week. The new urgent care center is another demonstration of RMC’s commitment to Bamberg County,” said Dandridge.

Plans call for Express Healthcare – Bamberg to be open 12 hours a day, seven days a week, primarily after regular doctors’ office hours. Services provided will include physician, X-ray, CT, and laboratory. Mobile mammography will also be provided regularly through RMC’s mobile services van.

“Express Healthcare – Bamberg is not an Emergency Room, but it will be able to handle many of the medical situations that arise after the primary care and family practice physicians’ offices are closed,” said Dandridge. “It will also be an option for those who have trouble getting to the doctor during regular business hours due to work or other commitments,” the release said.
