Ruth V. Clements, 79, of St.
Matthews died Saturday,
December 29, 2012, at the
Regional Medical Center in
Orangeburg. A graveside service was held Wednesday,
January 2, 2013, at Crestlawn
Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Clements was born
March 13, 1933, in Jefferson
City, Mo., a daughter of the late
Walter Voight and the late Irene
Maxwell Voight. She was a
former employee with Carolina
Propane.
Jackson “Jack” Grimes, 95,
of Bamberg, died Sunday,
December 30, 2012, at RMC in
Orangeburg. Services will be announced
at a later date.
Graveside services for Jack
R. Phillips, 71, of Denmark,
were held Saturday,
December 29, 2012, at Bamberg
Memory Gardens. Mr. Phillips was born
December 13, 1941, in Norway
and passed away Tuesday,
December 25, 2012 at his home
in Denmark. He was the son of
the late Charlie and Lou Ellen
Jackson Phillips. Mr. Phillips was an Army
veteran and retired with 25 years
of service from Zeus as a
machinist.
Kenneth Oliver Sandifer,
70, of Bamberg, died December
28, 2012, at the Medical College
of Georgia in Augusta.
Funeral services were held Wednesday,
January 2, 2013. Mr. Sandifer was born in
Bamberg, a son of the late Grady
M. & Vallie Kinsey Sandifer.
He attended the Word of Life
Pentecostal Holiness Church in
Bamberg. Mr. Sandifer served
in the United States Army and
was a retired carpenter and
craftsman.
Lizzie Singleton, 93, of
Ehrhardt, died Friday, December
28, 2012, at Colleton County
Medical Center in Walterboro.
Funeral plans will be
announced.
Loushia May Smalls, 78, of
Lees, died Friday, December 28,
2012, at the Regional Medical
Center. Services will be
announced at a later date.
Kate Linda Fowler
Strickland, 72, of Denmark, died
Thursday, December 27, 2012,
in Barnwell County Hospital.
The funeral was held Sunday, December 30,
2012 in Bethel Baptist Church in Cope. Mrs. Strickland was born
July 2, 1940, in Spartanburg, a
daughter of the late Walter
Fowler and the late Rachel
Barbee Fowler Brown. She was
a member of Bethel Baptist
Church.
Jewel Ann Y. Steedly, 63,
of Bamberg, died Saturday,
December 29, 2012, after a
long-term illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday,
January 2, 2013, at Canaan
Baptist Church in the Canaan
Community, Cope. She was born November
15, 1949, in Orangeburg
County, the daughter of the
late Woodrow Young and the
late Mildred Ann Norton
Young. She was a member of
Canaan Baptist Church.
Mr. George Robert
Sweatman, 55, died at his
residence on December 19,
2012. Funeral services were
held Saturday, December
22, 2012 at the Church of God
of Prophecy. Born in Bamberg, Mr.
Sweatman was the son of
James Robert Sweatman and
Lillie Mae Sweatman. He was
a self employed carpenter and
was a member of the Church
of God of Prophecy. He loved
fishing and the Edisto River.
