Denmark Piggly Wiggly Employees remember the kids
Mallory D. Biering, Staff Reporter

"Christmas is the season
to give. As operator and cooperator,
we decided that it
would bring us a better feeling
to give to a child who may not
have as much as we do," said
Pamela D. Biering, Co-
Operator of Denmark Piggly
Wiggly, when explaining the
employee toy give away their
employees helped to
sponsored. Operator Bubba
Coker asked all employees to
bring gifts to their Christmas
Party, and those who came did
bring gifts.
Coker said the gifts
included toy guns, dolls, tea
sets, cars, learning toys, and so
much more. The team at, "the
Denmark Pig, really pulled
together, and I'm glad to know
we have such caring
employees. It is a great feeling
knowing I get to work with
people who will take the time
and spend a little extra on a
total stranger," said Coker.
Biering asked the
Denmark Police Department to
help distribute to needy
families in the Denmark area,
and Officer Ransom from the
Denmark Police Department
arrived to help Denmark
Piggly Wiggly employees
Biering and Grocery Manager
Chris Johnson load the toys in
the police car. Ransom and his
fellow officers were able to
distribute the toys before
Christmas day to the children
all over Denmark.
Coker and Biering wanted
to not only thank their
employees for their Christmas
spirit this past season, but also,
"the community of Denmark
and surrounding areas for their
support and continued
patronage. From our Pig
Family to yours, Happy New
Year."
Four Red Raider Senior football players play in CSRA Senior Bowl
Jerry E. Halmon, Sports Editor

Four Bamberg-Ehrhardt
Red Raider senior standout
football players concluded their
high school football careers by
playing in the second annual
CSRA 2013 Senior Bowl on
Saturday, December 22, at
Augusta Christian School in
Augusta Georgia. B-E senior
standouts Larry Cann Jr.,
Demetrius Odom, Devondree
Williams and Maurice Duggans
concluded their high school
careers as part of the winning
National Team in a game that
featured some of the top senior
football talent in the Central
Savannah River Area ( CSRA).
B-E head football coach
Kevin "Butch" Crosby served
as defensive line coach for the
winning National Team and B-E
defensive coordinator Corey
Crosby served as linebackers
coach for the National Team.
Each of the B-E players made
a notable contribution in their
own way in their teams win.
Devondree Williams had a
key interception at the 32.4
second mark of the second
quarter that stopped an
American Team drive and
allowed the National team to
go into the break down by only
one point at 13-12. Demetrius
Odom had a solid performance
at running back and Maurice
Duggans had a solid
performance in coverage at
defensive back.
B-E’s Larry Cann Jr.
turned in a
Clowney like performance at
defensive end recording
multiple quarterback pressures,
caused two fumbles and had
two tackles for losses
(unofficially.) "It was an
awesome trip and opportunity
to play one more game," Cann
said after the game. Cann said
that the best part of the week
for him was "meeting new
people and learning their life
styles" and learning what
schools they came from. "It’s
been a really awesome trip,"
Cann said. Asked about his
performance on defense that
some in attendance thought
should have earned him
consideration for defensive
player of the game, Cann just
took it in stride: "I played to the
best of my ability," he commented adding "hopefully
there will be a next game for
me in college. I am going to do
my best the next time."
