Bamberg County honored
its employees with a drop-in on
Monday afternoon at the
Courthouse. Employees were
honored for five, 10, 20 and 39
years of service. Also honored
were out-going Bamberg
County Council members Chris
Wilson for 12-years of service
and Clair P. Guess III for eight
years of service on Bamberg
County Council.
Employees with five years
of service honored were: April
Campbell, Joyce Crowley,
Alonzo Jenkins, Greg Kearse,
Ricky Nimmons, Sidney Risher,
Lewis Williford and Eulyses
Sease. Employees honored for
10-years of service were: Ashia
Brabham, Melissa Fisk, Patricia
Williams and Elder Precious
Smith, Sr. Employees honored
for 20-years of service was
Lessie M. Meeks and honored
for 39-years of service to the
County was retiring Probate
Judge Nancy H. Green.
Retiring Probate Judge
Nancy Green told those in
attendance at the drop-in that
December 31st, will be her last
day servicing as Probate Judge
of Bamberg County. “I’ve been
here for 39-years and it’s a
bittersweet time for me,” Judge
Green said. “I’ve loved my job,
I’ve loved working with the
people and I’m going to step
down and Sarah Guess Noel will
take over.”
Probate Judge Elect Sarah
Guess Noel, who will be
replacing Judge Green stated she will be filling some shoes that
are nearly impossible to fill. “I’m going to miss Nancy very,
very much, she has been an
outstanding Probate Judge for
the County and a wonderful
citizen to all our folks. I love her
and I’m going to miss her.”
Judge Noel’s Brother Clair
P. Guess III, who elected not to
run for another term on Bamberg
County Council, thanked all the
county employees for their
service to the county noting,
“There is nothing more valuable
than the gift of community
service. It makes the community
that much better and I thank all
of you for that. I’m available
anytime any of you need my
help,” Guess said. |
