A fight at Denmark-Olar
Middle School that allegedly
began over a boy has resulted in
two female students facing
charges. The incident at the
middle school occurred on
November 13th, at
approximately 10:43 am. Of the
three female students involved,
two of the juveniles were
charged (both age 14); one being
charged with assault and battery
first degree and the other with
assault and battery third degree
respectively. The victim, a 13-year old female in the incident
was not charged.
According to a City of
Denmark Police Department
Incident Report dated November
13, 2012, Denmark Police
Officers were dispatched and
responded to Denmark-Olar
Middle School in reference to a
“fight in progress.” According to
the incident report, officers
spoke to the principal of the
school who stated, “there were
three young ladies that were
fighting and one had been
bleeding pretty bad.”
According to the report, on
further investigation, a “silver
combination lock” was located
on the floor and found to have
blood on it. The report noted that
officers made contact with one
of the subjects in the incident, who completed a written
voluntary statement stating that
she observed the subject come
into the class, “and started to
hit the victim in her face." The
incident report noted that
officers located the victim in the
principal’s office and observed
her with blood along her facial
area and hands, a laceration to
the right side of the hairline and
blood coming from her ear. The
report also noted that EMS was
contacted and responded.
The victim submitted a
written voluntary statement
which said one of the subjects
came into class and started,
“hitting her with a lock” and that
both she and the subject fell on
the floor. The report noted the
victim stated she started
“stabbing" the subject with a
pencil and the fight stopped.
After further investigation
officers found that the victim,
“acted in a manner only to
protect herself.
Each one of the parents of
the juveniles was given a
Custodial Promise and the
incident will be forwarded to the
Department of Juvenile Justice
and handled therein. |
