Eva Dell Bowers, 51, of Bamberg, died on Saturday,
October 13, 2012, at her residence. Services will be
announced at a later date.
Robert Terry Dyches, 48,
entered into eternal rest
Sunday, October 14, 2012.
Services were held Wednesday, October 17, 2012,
at True Vine Ministries Church
in Barnwell. Born in Bamberg, Mr.
Dyches was the son of the late
Marion Osburn Dyches and
Mattie Lee Still.
Services for Mrs. Omega
Moody Hanberry, 92, of
Denmark were held October 12, 2012, at
Rome Baptist Church,
Denmark. Mrs. Omega Moody
Hanberry was born August 2,
1920, in Bamberg County, to
the late Rev. John and Essie
Mae Moody. She was married
to the late Leon Martin
Hanberry Sr., and to this
union, there were five
children. Mrs. Hanberry was a
member of Rome Baptist
Church, where she served
faithfully in many religious
capacities until her health
failed.
Dalma Breland Johns Jr.,
77, of Bamberg, died Tuesday,
October 9, 2012, at the
Regional Medical Center,
Orangeburg. The funeral was held Friday, October 12, 2012. He was born January 13,
1935, in Bamberg County to
the late Dalma Breland Johns
Sr. and the late Gladys Creech
Johns. He was married to
Marilyn Sanders Johns and
was a member of Trinity
United Methodist Church in
Bamberg. He retired after 42
years from Health Protection
at Westinghouse Savannah
River Site. He also retired as
company commander of the
Bamberg National Guard; was
a past Master Mason of Lodge
247, Ehrhardt; and was a
former high school referee of
basketball and football. He
enjoyed golfing, fishing,
hunting, NASCAR races and
Carolina football.
The funeral for Albertha
“Moot” Kelly of Branchville
was held Saturday, October 13, 2012, at Canaan
Baptist Church, Branchville. Albertha Kelly, the
daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Williams, was
born in Branchville on July 4,
1927. At an early age, Albertha
joined Canaan Baptist Church
in Branchville. She was a
devoted member. Albertha attended
Branchville public schools.
She was joined in holy
matrimony to the late Ernest
Kelly. Albertha was an
outstanding mother and role
model. In conjunction with her
husband, she started a
restaurant named Green Acres
in Branchville, where she
worked until her retirement.
Albertha loved good food,
cooking, enjoyed church,
listening to gospel music and
reading the Word. She had a
wonderful smile that could
light up a room.
Mrs. Cynthia Tarrant, 71, of
Bamberg, died Monday, October
8, 2012, at the Regional Medical
Center, Orangeburg. Funeral services for were
held on Sunday, October 14,
2012, in Mt. Carmel United
Methodist Church. Mrs. Tarrant was born on
November 12, 1941, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late
William and Dorothy Kleinfeldt.
Cynthia was educated at the
Thomas Jefferson High School
in Brooklyn, N.Y. and was a
member of the St. Paul Lutheran
Church of Brooklyn. After relocating to Bamberg, she
affiliated herself with the Eden Baptist Church and attended
there until her health failed.
Services for Annie Ruth
Wright, 66, of Bamberg, were held Monday, October 15,
2012, at Friendship United
Methodist Church, Ehrhardt. Born October, 17, 1945, in
Bamberg to the late Isadore and
Annie Rebecca Seymore Wright, she was a lifelong
member of her family church,
Friendship United Methodist,
where she served on the United
Methodist Women ministry. At
an early age, she moved to East
Orange, NJ, living there for
several years, before returning to
her home state of South
Carolina. Here she became
employed at several local jobs in
the area: Floyd and Dot’s
Restaurant, Glover’s Café,
Denmark Technical College,
August Fiberglass, Voorhees
College and Bamberg Job Corps
Center. She was a member of the
class of 1964-65 of Lewis L.
Butler School, Ehrhardt.
