Mr. Ben Bing, 73, of
Ujima Village, Bamberg, died
Saturday, September 22, 2012.
Services were held Saturday, September 29,
2012, at St. Phillip’s Holiness
Church, Olar. He was born November 1,
1938, to the late Ben and
Evelina Green Bing in
Allendale. He was educated in
the public schools of Allendale
County. Ben retired from Life
Time Doors after 30-years of
service. He was married to the
late Minister Janie L. Bing.
Funeral services for John
Richard Crosby Sr., 91, of
Bamberg, were held Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at
Mount Carmel United
Methodist Church in Bamberg. Mr. Crosby was born
August 7, 1921, to the late Ben
and Ada Inez Crosby in
Bamberg County; He received
his early education in the
schools of Bamberg County.
At an early age, he joined St.
Luke United Methodist
Church in Ehrhardt. After his
marriage to the late Ellen
Elizabeth Brown Crosby, he
joined Mount Carmel United
Methodist Church. He then
married Annie Rose Beatrice
Williams after his first wife’s
death. Richard, as he was
known to his many friends in
the Bamberg County area, was
employed by many firms.
Mary Olivia “Billie”
Privette Early, 88, of
Gainesville, GA died
Thursday, September 27,
2012, at her residence,
surrounded by her children.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September
29, 2012, at Pleasant Hill
Baptist Church. Mary was born in
Darlington County, to the late
Jacob Peele and Vera Mae
Privette. She was preceded in
death by her husband of 61
years, Doyet Arnold “Jack”
Early; her sister, Vera Mae
Anderson; and her brother,
retired Lt. Col. Jacob Henry
Privette. Mrs. Early was a graduate
of the School of Nursing of the
Medical College of South
Carolina. She worked as a
graduate nurse in Washington,
D.C., during World War II. She
returned to South Carolina and
married her high school
sweetheart upon his arrival
home from the war. Mrs. Early worked as head
nurse of the Hall County
Hospital Pediatric Department
for 14 years. After retiring
from nursing, she became an
active member of the Medical
Auxiliary of Northeast
Georgia Hospital. She served
as president of the Auxiliary
and was instrumental in
establishing the first “Market
Place” as the major fundraiser
for the Auxiliary for the past
25 years. Mrs. Early received
the prestigious “employee of
the year” and “volunteer of the
year” awards from the
hospital. She was an active
member of Peasant Hill
Baptist Church.
Benjamin Rasberry, 86, of
Branchville, died Sunday,
September 30, 2012, at Trident
Medical Center, Charleston.
Funeral arrangements are
incomplete and will be
announced later.
Services for Mr. John
Henry Reddish, 65, of
Denmark, were held Friday, September 28, 2012, at
Honey Ford Baptist Church,
Denmark. John Henry Reddish was
born to the late Ruby and
Lanie Minus Reddish on April
18, 1947, in Bamberg. At the
tender age of 13, John joined
Goodland Baptist Church and
served there faithfully until his
death. John was educated at
Richard Carroll High School
of Bamberg. John Henry was
the founder and owner of
Reddish Logging; he later
became partners with his
brother, McKinley Reddish.
Marie Steward, 86, of
Augusta, GA, formerly of
Denmark, died Thursday,
September 27, 2012, at
University Hospital, Augusta.
Services will be announced at a later date.
Baby William Henry
“Liam” Varn V, son of William
Henry Varn IV and Brandi
Rentz Varn, was born an angel
on Friday, September 28,
2012. Baby Liam will be laid to
rest in a private family
committal service Wednesday
afternoon, October 3, 2012, in
the Rentz family cemetery
located on the Rentz farm in
Ehrhardt.

Dash Coal “Big Show”
Washington, 42, of
Orangeburg, were held Saturday, September 29,
2012, in Orangeburg. Dash Coal “Big Show”
Washington, son of Corrine
Washington Seawright and the
late Jackie Williams, was born
February 7, 1970, in Williams.
He departed this life Friday,
September 21, 2012, at the
Regional Medical Center in
Orangeburg. Dash was educated in the
public schools of Bamberg-Ehrhardt and
Orangeburg-Wilkinson high
schools. At an early age, Dash
joined Hickory Hill Baptist
Church in Orangeburg, where
he loved to hear the word of
God. Dash held many jobs in
his lifetime, but the one job
dear to his heart was at Cox
Lumber Yard in Orangeburg.
Mrs. Stella Toney
Williams, 67, of Williston,
died Monday, October 1, 2012,
at Aiken Regional Medical
Center, Aiken. Services will be
announced at a later date.
John Wright, 67, of
Ehrhardt, died Monday,
October 1, 2012, at Colleton
Medical Center, Walterboro.
Funeral services will be
announced at a later date.
