Mr. Jones William “Bill”
Bishop, 65, entered into rest at
his home Tuesday, September
18, 2012. The funeral service was
held Saturday, September 22,
2012, in the chapel.
Burial was in the Public
Worship of God Cemetery. Mr. Bishop was born in
Orangeburg County, the son of
the late James William and
Pearl Stephens Bishop. Mr. Bishop was of the Baptist
Faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines.
Funeral service for
Margie Padgett Dawson was
held Friday, September 21, 2012. Mrs. Dawson, widow of
Thomas Theodore Dawson,
Jr., passed away Wednesday,
September 19, 2012. Born in
Smoaks, she was a daughter of
the late Isham and Della
Padgett. She was a member of
Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church.
Margie was an employee of
AT&T Telephone Company
until her retirement. She was a
lifelong member of AT&T
Telephone Pioneers and a
member of CWA, Communications Workers of
America. In her retirement,
she enjoyed gardening, her
pets, boating and spending
weekends at her lake house in
Chapin.
Mr. John Henry Reddish,
66, of Denmark, died on
Friday, September 21, 2012,
as a result of an auto accident.
Services will be announced at a later date.
Services for Mrs. Alice C.
Walker, 56, of Denmark, were
held on Sunday,
September 23, 2012, at
Sunshine Baptist Church,
Blackville. Mrs. Alice Corene Knott
Walker, the daughter of the
late Wade J. Knott and Dorothy
E. Knott, was born on October
28, 1956, in Wicomico,
Maryland. Alice was a
graduate of the Maryland
public school system. Alice
worked at Prince George’s
Hospital for several years.
After relocating to Denmark,
she worked as a home health
care attendant. Alice, who was
known as “the first lady,” had
a love for baking and
attending family functions.
