Olivia Parrish Cook
Bloomer, 90, of Denmark, died
Friday, March 2, 2012.
Graveside services were
held on Monday, March 5, 2012, at the First Baptist
Church of Govan. Mrs. Bloomer was born in
Govan on July 7, 1921, to the
late Clarence J. and Elizabeth
Ann Kennedy. She was the wife
of the late Raymond Bloomer of
North Augusta and the first wife
of the late Angus Cook of
Denmark. She was a member of
First Baptist Church of Govan,
and retired from Kirkland Oil
Company as a secretary.
The funeral service for
Edna Islar Broxton of Denmark
was held Saturday, March 3,
2012, at Central Baptist
Church in Denmark.
Woodrow Wilson ‘Wilkes’
Linder, 97, of Smoaks, died
Monday, February 27, 2012, at
Colleton Medical Center.
He was the husband of the
late Rosa Lee Smoak Linder.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 1,
2012. Mr. Linder was born June 9,
1914, in Bamberg County and
was a son of the late Willie L.
Linder and Sillar Kinsey Linder.
He was a retired security officer
and farmer and had worked at
the Cotton Mill in Bamberg and
the State House in Columbia. He
was a member of Little Swamp
United Methodist Church and
First Baptist Church of St.
Matthews. He was a Mason for
more than 70 years and held a
dual membership in Smoaks
Masonic Lodge #231 and Israel
Masonic Lodge #177 in St.
Matthews, having been a Past
Master and Chaplain for both
lodges. He was also a member of
the Order of the Eastern Star,
Vance Chapter #287, where he
was a Past Chaplain.
Edith Lewis McMillan, 85,
of Bamberg, died Monday,
February 27, 2012, at McLeod
Regional Medical Center in
Florence. She was born June 10,
1926, in Lamar, the daughter of
the late Harry Bryan Lewis and
the late Julia Rebecca Crawford.
She enjoyed reading, gardening,
and visiting with her children
and grandchildren. She was a
member of the American Legion
Auxiliary, First Baptist Church
Ladies’ Mission 3 church group,
a past Sunday school teacher and
Children’s Mission Group.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 1,
2012, at First Baptist Church in
Bamberg.
Sudhavati J. Parikh, 90, of
Bamberg, passed away
peacefully in her sleep on
Wednesday, February 29, 2012,
at her home. SudhaBa was born on May
30, 1921 in Vautha, Gujarat,
India. In loving memory of
SudhaBa, Bhajans was held at
Ziggy’s Motel in Bamberg on
Friday, March 2, 2012. The funeral was held on
Saturday, March 3, 2012.
The funeral for Betty
Faircloth Sanders, 75, of Olar,
was held Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Memorial
Baptist Church. Born in Toombs County,
GA, she was the daughter of the
late Samuel Perkins Faircloth
and Anna Elizabeth Poole and
was married to the late James
Martin Sanders. Mrs. Sanders was a retired store manager
for Mixon Oil Company, a
member of Memorial Baptist
Church, and a past member of
the Eastern Star.

Anderson ‘Smokey’ Walker, 75,
of Laurel Baye Healthcare
Center, Orangeburg, formerly of
Ehrhardt, were held Saturday, March 3, 2012, at
Hickory Hill United Methodist
Church, Smoaks.
Mr. Walker died Sunday,
February 26, 2012, at the
healthcare center.
Born September 6, 1936, to
the late Rev. Monnie and
Marcenia Utsey Walker, he
attended the public schools of
Bamberg County. He joined
Hickory Hill United Methodist
Church at an early age.
Anderson was united in marriage to the former Henrietta Grimes.
