Funeral services for Eloise Atterberry, 79, of Denmark, were held Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Franklin United Methodist Church, Denmark. Born January 19, 1933, to the late Ben and Ethel Banks Holman, she was the seventh of 12 children. She attended the public schools of Denmark. At an early age, Eloise joined Zion Hill United Methodist Church, Denmark. After the loss of her parents, she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised her younger siblings. Years later after relocating back home, she joined Franklin United Methodist Church.

Funeral services for Fritz Gleaton, 69, of Springfield, were held Friday, February 3, 2012, at Springfield First Baptist Church. Born in Orangeburg County, he was the son of Eloise Brown Gleaton Beatty and the late B. K. Gleaton and was married to the late Jane Williams Gleaton. He formerly worked at Dixie-Narco and loved working as a self-employed barber. He enjoyed cruising around Springfield, fellowshipping with friends, eating at Mary's Country Kitchen, and he had a passion for El Camino cars. He was a member of the National Guard and Springfield First Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Geneva W. Jakes, 71, of Denmark, were held Saturday, February 4, 2012, at St. Matthews Church of Deliverance, Denmark. Born on November 28, 1940, in Aiken to the late Jake and Louise Collins Walker, she attended the public schools of Aiken and Bamberg counties. Geneva was a strong-willed person who took on the problems of others as if they were her own. Her family will always cherish memories of her.

Mrs. Peggy Jean Stephens, 80, of Orangeburg, died Friday, February 3, 2012, at the UniHealth Post-Acute Care in Bamberg. The funeral was held Monday, February 6, 2012, at Four Holes Baptist Church. Mrs. Stephens was born July 11, 1931, in Malta, Mont., a daughter of the late P. H. Misfeldt and the late Marguerite Hurley Misfeldt. She was a retired practical nurse, a member of Four Holes Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.
