Services for Betty Naomi
Tyler Gaither, 66, of Arlington,
Va., formerly of Denmark, were
held Friday, January 20,
2012, at Honey Ford Baptist
Church in Denmark. Ms. Tyler was born on
February 3, 1945, in Denmark to
the late Norris Tyler and Nomie
Hightower. She was a graduate
of Voorhees High School and
attended Voorhees Junior
College, where she majored in
business education. At an early
age, Betty became a Christian
and was baptized at Honey Ford
Baptist Church, where she
served faithfully until she moved
to Brooklyn, N.Y. Betty lived in
Brooklyn for 44 years and
worked as an assistant director
of the medical records
department of Kings County
Hospital in Brooklyn until she
retired in 2007.
Funeral services for Jessie
Mae Deloach Milton, 92, of
Bamberg, formerly of Olar, were
held Saturday, January
21, 2012, at Mount Joy Holiness
Church in Ulmer. Mother Jessie was born
February 10, 1919, in Barnwell
County to the late Minus and
Anna Youmans Deloach. At an
early age, she joined New Hope
United Methodist Church in
Siegling. She later moved her
membership to St. Phillip
Holiness Church in Olar and
lastly joined Mount Joy
Holiness Church in Ulmer,
where she served faithfully until
her health declined. Mother
Milton was united in holy
matrimony to the late Willie
Milton, and to this union, 10
children were born.
Jack L. Parrish, 88, of
Bamberg, died Saturday,
January 21, 2012, at the Calhoun
Convalescent Center.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, January 24,
2012, at Springtown Baptist
Church. Mr. Parrish was born in
Bamberg County to the late
Elizabeth Clarence Parrish. He
was married to the late Carrie
Starr Free for over 50 years.
He was a member of Springtown Baptist Church,
where he was a former deacon.
He was retired from SCE&G at the Denmark substation.
Funeral services for Willie
J. Sanders, 63, of Bamberg, were
held Thursday, January
19, 2012. Willie was born on
September 7, 1948, to the late
John and Julia Sanders. He was
educated in the public schools of
Denmark. At an early age, he
joined Honey Ford Baptist
Church in Denmark. Willie
worked most of his life in
logging. He also did yard
maintenance in the Denmark
area until his death.
Patricia ‘Patty’ Canaday
Stidham, 50, of St. George,
passed on Sunday, January 22,
2012, at Roper Hospital
following an extended illness.
A memorial service was
held Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at the Cotton Gin
Country Church in Reevesville. Patty was born June 16,
1961, in Germany. She was the daughter of Mildred Canaday
and the late Henry Witsell Canaday. She was a loving mother
daughter, sister and friend and she will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services for Annie
Crum Edwards Wroten, 79, of
Denmark, were held on Sunday,
January 22, 2012, in the Capernaum Baptist Church,
Bamberg. Mrs. Wroten died Thursday,
January 19, 2012, at UPAC of
Bamberg. She was born August 16,
1932, in Bamberg County, to the
late Freddy and Emma Hicks
Crum. On August 17, 1952 she
was united in marriage to the late
Melvin Edwards and to this union
they had four children. Later in life
she married Leroy Wroten in 1999.
Annie attended the public schools
of Denmark. After marriage and
raising her children, Annie went
back to school to earn her high
school diploma. At an early age,
she joined the Capernaum Baptist
Church.
