The 2012 Republican Presidential Preference Primary will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012. According to Bamberg County Registration and Elections Director Patti Jeffcoat all precincts will be open. The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the designated polling places. Jeffcoat stated that absentee machines are ready in the courthouse. According to the Notice Of Elections for the State of South Carolina and the County of Bamberg the Managers of Elections shall see that each person offering to vote takes the oath that he/she is qualified to vote at this election according to the Constitution of the State, has not voted before at this primary election or at any other party’s primary election, and has not participated in the nominating convention for any vacancy for which this primary is being held.

Voters who are blind, physically disabled, or unable to read or write are entitled to assistance in casting their ballot. This assistance may be given by anyone the voter chooses except his employer, or an officer or agent of his union.

The Managers must be notified if assistance is needed. Voters who are unable to enter their polling place due to physical disability or age may vote in the vehicle in which they drove, or were driven, to the polls. When notified, the Managers will help these voters using the curbside voting provision.

Registered electors who cannot vote in person may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot. Voters wishing more information concerning absentee voting should contact their county voter registration office. On January 21, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., the Bamberg County Election Commission will begin its examination of the absentee ballots return envelopes at the Kearse Agricultural Building, 847 Calhoun Street, Bamberg, SC 29003.

On January 26, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. the Bamberg County Election Commission will hold a hearing to determine the validity of all provisional ballots in this election.

This hearing will be held at the Kearse Agricultural Building, 847 Calhoun Street, Bamberg, SC 29003.

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on January 21 at the following Precincts/Polling Places designated: Colston, Colston Fire Department; Edisto, Edisto Fire Station; Ehrhardt, Ehrhardt Town Hall; East Denmark, Brooker Center; Govan, Govan Fire Department; Hightower's Mill, Old Train Depot; Hunters Chapel, Hunter’s Chapel Fire Department; Kearse, Brant’s Office; Little Swamp, Little Swamp Community Center; Olar, Olar Town Hall; South Bamberg, Kearse Ag Building; West Denmark, Old Train Depot and North Bamberg, Bamberg City Civic Center.
