Eugene Joseph ‘E. J.’
Betsill, Jr., 89, formerly of
Orangeburg died Monday
morning, December 19, 2011,
at Palmetto Richland hospital
in Columbia after suffering an
extended illness. Mr. Betsill
was born in Orangeburg, July
24, 1922, the son of the late
Alice Inabinet Betsill and
Eugene Joseph Betsill, Sr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Ann
Rush Betsill. He was a member of
Trinity Presbyterian Church in
Orangeburg. He retired more
than ten years ago from his
career as owner and manager
of Betsill’s Body Shop. He
was a U.S. Army Veteran of
WWII having served in the
Persian Gulf. The memorial service to
celebrate his life was held
Thursday, December 22, 2011,
at Trinity Presbyterian Church
in Orangeburg.
Shirley H. Buck, 76, of
Bamberg, died Thursday,
December 15, 2011, at MUSC
of Charleston after an extended illness.
Glenn Coleman, 58, of
Lithonia, Ga., formerly of
Denmark, died Wednesday,
December 7, 2011, at his
residence. Funeral services were
held Thursday, December 15, 2011, at
Franklin United Methodist
Church, Denmark. Mr. Coleman was born
November 23, 1953, in
Bamberg County, to Ruby
Coleman and the late Ernest
Coleman, Sr. At an early age,
he joined Franklin United
Methodist Church in
Denmark. Glenn was a
graduate of Denmark-Olar
High School, class of 1972.
He continued his educational
pursuit with classes in auto
mechanics at Denmark Technical College and the
University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie.
Burnice Robinson Jennings, 89, of Denmark died
Wednesday, December 14, 2011, in Denmark.
Funeral services were held Tuesday,
December 20, 2011, at Central
Baptist Church in Denmark. Mrs. Jennings, the
daughter of the late Jim and
Bessie Robinson, was born in
Allendale County on April 3, 1922.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church in
Denmark where she was a member of the gospel choir
for many years.
