The funeral for Gertrude
Smoak Mack, 93, of Cordova,
widow of Edgar Eldridge Mack,
were held Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Ebenezer
Baptist Church in Cordova. Mrs. Mack passed away
Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at
her residence. She was born January 16,
1918, in Cordova, a daughter of
the late Hubert W. and Alma
Smoak. She was an active, lifelong member and
faithful servant of Ebenezer
Baptist Church and a member of
the Fidelis Sunday school class
until her health failed. She
retired from Orangeburg Regional Hospital. She was a
loving and caring person to her family and friends.
The funeral for Darren
Patrick McMillan, 25, of
Raeford, N.C., was held Saturday, December 10, 2011, at
Gethsemane Baptist Church,
Bamberg. Darren Patrick McMillan
was born December 10, 1985, in
Fairbanks, Alaska, to Darell and
Lilah McMillan. Darren was involved in
various music ministries at
church, including the youth
choir, male chorus, GK
Spirituals and the Inspirational
Choir. In addition to his
involvement at church, Darren
sang with gospel groups
throughout the community and
various states. These groups
included Curley Morrison & For
Reel, now known as Men In
Christ, New Dimension,
Freedom Ensemble and
Resurrection. He enjoyed music
and singing. He shared his
musical gift with whoever
would listen.
Willie Dell Still, 81, of
Bamberg, died Sunday, December 11, 2011, at UPAC
Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December
14, 2011, at Word of Life
Pentecostal Church in Bamberg. She was married to the late
Luther Franklin Still. She was a
homemaker, and enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, being
with her family, and she loved
her church. Mrs. Still was born to the
late Dalton Mitchum and the
Late Bertie Mae Mitchum.
Eloise T. Thomas, 89, of
Orangeburg, died Friday,
December 9, 2011, at the
Regional Medical Center in
Orangeburg. A graveside service was
held Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Two Mile
Swamp Baptist Church
Cemetery in Cope. She was born July 14, 1922,
in Bamberg County, the daughter of the late Friendly L.
Thompson and the late Annie Mae Kirkland Thompson.

Evelyn Overcash Yelton,
86, widow of Hugh L. Yelton of
Chesnee, went home to be with
the Lord, Wednesday, December
7, 2011. Born September 6, 1925 in
Cherokee County, she was a
daughter of the late Ralph
Overcash and Ollie Green
Overcash. She was a member of
Buck Creek Baptist Church and
a homemaker. Funeral services were held Friday, December 9, 2011.
