Funeral services for Ms.
Eairmarine ‘Tubby’ Bell, 65,
of Denmark, were held on
Monday, November 14, 2011, in the Progressive
Church of Our Lord Jesus
Christ. Ms. Eairmarine Bell was
born on March 2, 1946, in
Denmark. She was educated
in the public schools of
Bamberg County and then
furthered her education at
Denmark Area Trade in the
field of food service. For
many years she worked at
Denmark Technical College.
Ms. Bell was later hired at the
Progressive Family Life
Center doing what she loved
most which was preparing
and cooking food and serving
children.
Inez Lee Carter, 79, of
Olar, died Thursday,
November 3, 2011, at
UniHealth Post-Acute Care
of Bamberg. The funeral was held Saturday, November 12,
2011, at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
James Wilbert Johnson,
86, of Orangeburg, died
Saturday evening, November
12, 2011, at the Regional
Medical Center in
Orangeburg. Funeral services were
held Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at
Northside Baptist Church, in Orangeburg. Mr. Johnson was born
November 28, 1924, in
Bamberg, a son of the late
Clyde W. Johnson and the late
Nellie Hiott Johnson. He was married to his wife,
Louise Jones Johnson for 68
years. He was a member of
Northside Baptist Church, a
former Deacon and taught
Sunday School for 49 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy,
was a veteran of World War II
and was retired from CSX Transportation.
Funeral services for
Ms. Louise Roberta
Murdock, 92, of Branchville,
were held Saturday,
November 12, 2011, at Mount
Zion United Methodist
Church in Bamberg. Ms. Murdock was born
on February 8, 1919, in
Orangeburg to the late
McClinton and Mattie
Murdock. Louise spent her
early years in Bamberg and
attended Claflin School. Upon moving to Brooklyn,
N.Y., she worked for more than 60 years as a domestic
worker.
Dorothy Darnell Sellers,
87, of Bamberg, died Friday,
November 11, 2011, at the
UPAC of Barnwell. The funeral was held Sunday, November 13,
2011. She was born March 28,
1924, in Barnwell, daughter
of the late Ben Tillman
Darnell and the late Annie
Hutto. She was a member of
Spring Branch Baptist
Church, Bamberg. Ms.
Sellers retired from Ambler
Industries with more than 30
years as a seamstress. She
enjoyed cooking, working in
her yards, and loved her dogs
and white rabbit.
