Funeral services for Edward
‘Sonny’ Brabham, 67, of
Decatur, Ga., formerly of Olar,
was held Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at
Ebenezer United Methodist
Church, Olar. Born October 18, 1943, in
Olar, he was the son of the late
Edward and Thelma Ritter
Brabham. At an early age, he
relocated to Brooklyn, N.Y.,
where he completed his formal
education. During this time, he
met and married the former June
Hall. Sonny, as he was known to
his many friends, served his
country with honors while in the
U.S. Army. He later relocated to
Philadelphia, where he began a
career with the Internal Revenue
Service.
Mrs. Dorothy ‘Dot’ Zeigler
Rast Brant, 73, of Rowesville,
died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at
the Regional Medical Center in
Orangeburg. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 12, 2011. She was born February 11,
1938, in Orangeburg County, the
daughter of the late John Fuller
Rast and the late Effie Zeigler
Rast Jernigan. She was the
retired owner and operator of
Dot's Shop in Rowesville.
Mrs. Frances Kemp
Cornforth, 103, died October 9,
2011, at the Bamberg Nursing
Center. Graveside services were
held Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at the Denmark
Cemetery. Born December 30, 1907,
in Bamberg, she was the
daughter of the late Clifton
Kemp and Hattie Belle Gillam
Kemp. She was the widow of
Calvin D. Cornforth, and was a
retired bookkeeper. She was a
resident of Denmark, for many
years and was a member of
Bethel Park United Methodist
Church, Denmark.
Funeral services for Mrs.
Annie Ruth Branch Heyward,
72, of Bamberg, were held Friday, October 7, 2011, at
Williams Chapel Baptist Church
in Ehrhardt. Annie Ruth Branch
was born September 17, 1939, to
the late Remell Branch and Jim
Branch in Augusta, Ga. She was married to the late
Ulysses Heyward, and this union
was blessed with five children,
with two of her children preceding her in death.
James Cason Mundy V, 36,
of Bamberg, passed away
Saturday, October 8, 2011.
He was the beloved son of
James C. Mundy IV and Patricia
Nichols Mundy Corriher. ‘Jim
Jim’ was born on June 26, 1975.
He was a former member of the
Navy and was a self-employed
general contractor. He was a
loving father, son, brother and
friend.
Deacon Arthur Spellman
Jr., 85, of Denmark, died
Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at
his residence. The funeral was held on Saturday, October 8, 2011, in the Greater Sweet
Branch Baptist Church,
Govan. Deacon Spellman was
born January 29, 1926, to the
late Arthur and Ella Hicks
Spellman in Bamberg County.
Margaret ‘Dell Shirey’
Driggers Williamson, 82, of
Bamberg, died Monday,
October 3, 2011, at the
Medical College of Georgia
Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
She was born March 23,
1930, in Barnwell to the late
Charlie Allen Driggers and
the late Volile Mae Troutman. She was married
to William ‘Sarge’ Shirey
and was of the Pentecostal
faith. She was a housewife
who enjoyed gardening,
fishing, sewing and cooking.
The funeral was held Thursday, October 6, 2011.
