Eva Walker McCartha
Hutton died Sunday evening,
August 14, 2011. Eva, (Eva
Walker to her family), widow of
Sherlock H. Hutton, was a
daughter of the late Reuben and
Ina Califf McCartha. Eva was born in 1920 in
Denmark. She was the middle
child of three daughters, a
serious studious child who
excelled in sports and was
always eager to please. She was
educated in the Denmark
schools and then attended
Winthrop College where she
graduated with Honors in
Biology. Private services and burial
were held Denmark on Thursday, August 18, 2011.
Mr. Francis Edwin Purvis,
87, died Friday, August 12, 2011
at TRMC of Orangeburg, after a
brief illness. Services were held Monday, August 15, 2011,
at the First Baptist Church of
Denmark. Born January 28, 1924 in
Darlington County, he was the
son of the late Lawrence Ruy
Purvis and Virginia Bass Purvis.
He resided in Denmark, for
many years and was a resident at
The Oaks in Orangeburg, at the
time of his death. Mr. Purvis was
a supervisor for Bell South and
AT&T and was retired from the
telephone industry.
Mary Evelyn Hutto
Yeatman, 84, of Sterling, VA,
died Sunday, August 14, 2011 in
Callao, VA. Mary Evelyn was born on
October 14, 1926, in Everglades
City, FL to William E. Hutto and
Mattie Mae Garrett Hutto.
She was the third child of
four; two sisters, Eloise Herbert
(deceased), Genie Bellamy
(deceased) of Bamberg; and she
is survived by her brother,
William E. Hutto of Bronxville, NY.
