Funeral services for Mrs. Annie Mae Washington-Dowling, 87, of Bamberg, was held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Bamberg. She was born February 22, 1924, in Bamberg to the late Mozone "Tenny" and Estella Holmes Washington. She was later adopted by the late Clara Wright.

Mrs. Phyllis Monterey H. Hiers, 96, of Ehrhardt, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at UniHealth Post-Acute Care of Bamberg. Funeral services were held Friday, July 22, 2011, at Ehrhardt Baptist Church in Ehrhardt. Mrs. Hiers was born July 14, 1915, in Ehrhardt and was a daughter of the late Jacob C. Hiers and the late Lillie Combs Hiers. She was a lifelong member of Ehrhardt Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Deacon Michael Jones, 49, of Raleigh, N.C., were held Saturday, July 30, 2011, at St. Phillip Church of God In Christ in Govan. Deacon Michael Jones was born in Bamberg on June 4, 1962, to the late Brooker T. Jones Sr. and Willie Mae Outing. He attended Denmark-Olar High School and Voorhees College in Denmark.

Mrs. Sally Sease Kinard, 96, of Ehrhardt, entered into eternal rest Friday, July 29, 2011 at Uni-Health Post Acute Care of Bamberg. She was first married to the late Arthur Vernon Sease and secondly to the late James Monroe Kinard. Funeral services were held Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Ehrhardt Baptist Church. Mrs. Kinard was born November 14, 1914 in Mountville, SC and was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Watts and Eliza Hudgens Watts. She was member of Ehrhardt Baptist Church and was a member of the U.D.C.

Mrs. Anne Hightower Williamson, of Denmark, died peacefully of natural causes Sunday, July 31, 2011, at her home. She was born in Ashepoo. She was the daughter of the late Harold Elmo and Kathleen Delk Hightower. She was employed by Lower State Gas Company in Denmark. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Denmark and the Dessie Steadman Sunday School Class. Services were held Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at First Baptist Church of Denmark.
