Funeral services for Daryl Allen Brubaker, 54, of Olar were held Sunday, July 17, 2011, at the Barnwell Mennonite Church. Born in Harrisonburg, VA he was a son of Howard Brubaker and Miriam Heatwole Brubaker. He was a farmer and a member of the Barnwell Mennonite Church.

Christine ‘Crissy’ Spires Hopkins, 61, of Bamberg, died Monday, July 4, 2011. A memorial service was held Sunday, July 17, 2011, at the Church of God of Prophecy in Bamberg. Christine was the daughter of the late Azile Spires.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie S. Kearse, 91, of Ehrhardt, was held on Saturday, July 16, 2011, in the Union Baptist Church, Bamberg. Mrs. Kearse died Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Palmetto-Baptist Hospital in Columbia. She was born February 7, 1920, to the late Joseph ‘Mudd’ and Hattie ‘Missy’ Singleton. At an early age she joined Union Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Mather High School, Beaufort and Voorhees College, Denmark.

Mrs. Lynn Elizabeth Mitchell, 51, a resident of Blackville, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at TRMC in Orangeburg. Born January 21, 1960, she was the daughter of Linwood Mitchell and the late Mary Bell Vaughn Mitchell. She was a homemaker. Services were held Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Ghents Branch Baptist Church in Denmark.

The funeral for Mrs. Mattie Mae Brown Thompson, 91, of Holly Hill, was held on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Greater Unity AME Church in Holly Hill. Mrs. Thompson was born in Holly Hill, eldest daughter of the late Eddie Brown and Mrs. Etta M. Masheck Brown. She was educated in the public schools of Holly Hill and trained as a seamstress at Area Trade School in Denmark. She was a lifelong member of Greater Unity AME Church.

Funeral services for Eddie Lee ‘Throw Down’ Williams, 60, of Denmark, were held Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Rome Baptist Church in Denmark. Mr. Williams died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Eddie Lee ‘Throw Down’ Williams was born December 14, 1950, and was the son of Clarine Bruce Williams and the late Benjamin Williams.
