Winn Clary Memorial Golf Tournament Print E-mail

With almost perfect weather Saturday, the Winn Clary Memorial Golf Tournament kicked off Old Friends Invitational Golf Classic week in Bamberg at Paw Paw Country Club. The tournament, named in honor of one Bamberg’s most outstanding citizens and extremely popular sports editor for The Advertizer-Herald newspaper for several years, has increasingly become more popular each year.

The charity golf tournament, founded by Winn’s boyhood friend Jim Kemp, raises funds for the non-medical expenses of sick children and their families in Bamberg County.

The income raised is used to buy gas or lodging or books in the fall for a family in need. Each year the event brings together families and friends for a day of fun, food and great golf.

Winners of the 2011 Winn Clary Tournament were Glenn and Baylor Jeffcoat and Matt and Justin Medlin – 1st place, Bobo Sandifer, Scotty Sandifer, Bryan Sandifer and Ricky Brown – 2nd place. Longest drive was won by Steven Carnet, Closet to Pin, Glenn Jeffcoat, Kids putting contest, 1st place Parker Free, 2nd place Cameron Bunch, 3rd place Reece Zeigler, and 4th place, Jakob Free.

Adult putting contest was won by Rad Nimmo for 1st place, Glenn Jeffcoat, 2nd place, and 3rd place went to Ronnie Nissen.
