Sudie Crider Carter, 66, of
Orangeburg, died Friday, June 24,
2011, at the Medical University of
South Carolina in Charleston.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 27, 2011.
Mrs. Carter was born June 15,
1945, in Bamberg County, a
daughter of the late Thomas C.
Crider and the late Ellen Johnson
Crider. She was a member of the
Cornerstone Community Church.
She was employed with Orangeburg
Surgical.
Funeral services with full
military honors for Master Sgt.
Johnny Ray Jones, 57, of St.
Matthews were held Friday,
June 26, 2011, at St. Matthews K-8
School in St. Matthews. Master Sgt. Johnny Ray Jones
was born March 14, 1954, in
Calhoun County to Mr. and Mrs.
Hercules (Adell) Jones. Johnny was
the fourth child born of seven
children. He served his country in
numerous deployments, which
included, but not limited to, Turkey,
Japan, Denmark, and a tour of duty
in Saudi Arabia during Operation
Desert Storm. Master Sgt. Johnny R.
Jones gave diligent service to his
country for 32 years.
Elizabeth Ann Garrick Kittrell,
54, of North, died Saturday, June 25,
2011. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 29, 2011,
at North Pentecostal Holiness
Church in North. Mrs. Kittrell was born May 24,
1957, in Orangeburg, a daughter of
Carolyn Sue Vest Hutto and the late
Billy Wayne Hutto.
Funeral services for Edna L.
Medlin, 89, of Anderson, formerly of
Bamberg, were held Friday, June 24, 2011.
She was born February 23,
1922, In Charleston to the late Earl
Langdale and the late Bertie Gross
Langdale Black and was the widow
of C. R. Medlin. She was a member
of Main Street United Methodist
Church in Bamberg, where she was a
lifelong member. She retired with 23
years of service from the Bamberg
County Office on Aging.
A memorial service for Hubert
Gilbert Wiles, 84, of Bamberg, was held Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Bamberg. Mr. Wiles died June 24, 2011,
in the Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg.
He was born March 24, 1927,
in Elloree, a son of the late Charles
W. Wiles and Rosa Hungerpillar
Wiles. He was married to the former
late Bonnie Henderson Wiles Spires.
He was a member of Cornith Baptist
Church in Holly Hill. He was retired
from Utica Tool with 24.5 years of
service. He enjoyed gardening, the
outdoors and his dogs. He served in
the U.S. Navy during WWII.
