Mrs. Rose W. Steward-Brown,
72, of Albany, Ga., formerly of
Denmark, died Thursday, June 16,
2011, at Phoebe Putney Memorial
Hospital in Albany, Ga. Services were held Wednesday, June 22, 2011, in Honey
Ford Baptist Church, Denmark. Mrs. Steward-Brown was born
November 1, 1938, in Bamberg
County to the late Eddie O. and Ollie
M. Bennett Steward. She was
educated in the public school system
of Bamberg County. In December
1957, Rose relocated to Brooklyn,
N.Y., where she worked in the photo
industry for more than 33 years.
Julius ‘Jay’ Victor Crider Jr., 65,
of Williston, died Saturday, June 18,
2011. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the
Elko Baptist Church. He was born at home in Denmark, he
was a son of Blanche Bessinger Crider and the late Julius Victor
Crider Sr. He was a 1965 graduate of
Orangeburg High School, attended
Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College and served in the S.C.
National Guard.
Funeral services for Shirley
Gunnells Johnson, 57, of Williston,
was held Wednesday, June 22, 2011 in Williston.
Shirley was born in Olar, she was a
daughter of the late Randolph
Dawson Gunnells Sr. and Ruby
Higgs Gunnells. All of her life, she
worked as a floral designer.
Edna L. Medlin, 89, of
Anderson, formerly of Bamberg,
died Monday, June 20, 2011, at
Fellowship Health and Rehab
Center, Anderson.
She was affiliated with Main
Street Methodist Church in
Bamberg.
Willie J. Coleman ‘Spook’, 64,
of Orangeburg, formerly of
Denmark, died Saturday, June 10,
2011, at the Regional Medical Center
in Orangeburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 18, 2011, at
Honey Ford Baptist Church in
Denmark. Mr. Coleman, the son of the late
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Coleman Carter,
was born August 16, 1946, in
Bamberg. He was the grandchild of
the late Charlie Coleman and Mrs.
Mary Ella Jenkin Coleman.
Hallie Benjamin ‘Ben’
Seymore, 89, of Jacksonville, Fla.,
formerly of Ehrhardt, was called to
eternal rest on Saturday, June 11,
2011, in Jacksonville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 18, 2011, at
Friendship United Methodist Church
in Ehrhardt.
Ruby Alva Davis Young, 86, of
Grand Prairie, Texas, passed away
after a brief illness on Thursday, June
16, 2011. Funeral services were held Monday, June 20, 2011 in Grand
Prairie, Texas. Mrs. Young was born in the
Canaan Community of Cope, a
daughter of Edward Asbury Davis
and Josephine Kittrell Davis.
