Charles ‘Hog’ Edward
Carroll, 49, of Bamberg, died
Thursday, May 12, 2011.
The funeral was held Sunday, May 15, 2011. Mr. Carroll was born
September 17, 1961, in Bamberg, a son of the late Allen
Carroll and Patricia Hutto Folk.
He was the owner of Carroll
Roofing for over 35 years. He
enjoyed fishing, NASCAR
racing, and spending time with
his grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Joe
Randolph ‘Randy’ Driggers, 73,
of Denmark, were held May 18, 2011. Mr. Driggers passed away
Saturday, May 14, 2011. Born in Healing Springs, he
was a son of the late Bonson and
Lucille Proctor Driggers. He
was a heavy equipment operator
with the Local Union #470, was
a member of the Blackville
Church of God and attended
other churches. He was an avid
fisherman, shrimper and
carpenter.
Funeral services for Jimmie
Hightower, 52, of Denmark, was
held Friday, May 13, 2011, in Hilda.
Mr. Hightower died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at his
residence. Jimmie was born March 20,
1959, in Bamberg, to the late
Sam Hightower and Mrs. Lillie Mae Johnson-Hightower.
Funeral services for Ms.
Ellen C. ‘Cillie’ Johnson, 59, of
Denmark, were held Thursday, May 12, 2011 at
Franklin United Methodist
Church in Denmark. Ms. Johnson died Sunday,
May 8, 2011, at Providence
Hospital in Columbia. She was born February 20,
1952, in Bamberg to Richard
Crosby Sr. and the late Ellen E. Brown Crosby.
Mrs. Sandra Gertrude Platt Bell,
62, died Wednesday, May
11, 2011, at her residence in
Bamberg. She was the daughter of the
late Hugh Searson Platt and
Betty Junelle Carson Platt. She
was born June 7, 1948, in Augusta, Ga. She worked in the
manufacturing industry as a
machine operator. A private graveside service
was held Friday, May 13, 2011, at
Bamberg Memory Gardens.
The Very Rev. William ‘Bill’
Josiah Snow II, D. D., D. M.,
Orangeburg, died at his residence.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, 2011, at
the Episcopal Church of the
Redeemer. Dr. Snow was born in
Washington, D.C., a son of the late
William Arthur and Margaret
Payne Snow. He was a graduate of
the United States Military
Academy and later the Virginia
Theological Seminary, Wake
Forest University, and the
International Seminary with the
degrees of Doctor of Ministry and
Doctor of Divinity. Dr. Snow was
well known in the Orangeburg
community, having served as a
rector of the Episcopal Church of
the Redeemer for over 24 years.
