Graveside funeral services
for Marie R. Davis, 74, of
Orangeburg, were held Sunday, April 17, 2011, at
Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg. Mrs. Davis died April 14,
2011, at Palmetto Health
Richland in Columbia. She was born November
28, 1936, in Bamberg County,
the daughter of the late Jennings
Tillman Robinson and the late
Rosa Pearl Felder Robinson.
A graveside service for
Joseph E. Hutchins, 72, of
Norway, was held Thursday, April 14, 2011, in
Norway Cemetery. He was born April 16, 1938,
in Carthage, N.Y., the son of the
late Henry and Mary Sullivan
Hutchins. He was formerly of
South Rutland, N.Y. He served
in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Funeral services for Terence
E. Johnson, 49, of Jacksonville,
Fla., were held Saturday, April 16, 2011, at
Capernaum Baptist Church in
Denmark. Mr. Johnson was born May 27, 1961, in
Denmark to the late Hezekiah
and Annie Johnson, he attended
Denmark-Olar High School and,
after graduation, he joined the
U.S. Army and served his country with honors.
Funeral services for Frank
Kearse Jr., 76, of Bamberg, were
held Saturday, April 16,
2011, at Sweet Rest Baptist
Church in Olar. Mr. Kearse died Sunday,
April 10, 2011, at MUSC
Medical Center in Charleston. Frank Kearse Jr. was born
October 25, 1934, in Olar to the late Frank Kearse Sr. and Inez
Dublin-Kearse.
Mrs. Mary Louise
McMillan, 62, of Laurel Baye
Health Care of Orangeburg,
formerly of Bamberg, died
Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the
Regional Medical Center in
Orangeburg. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 19,
2011, at City of Refuge
Ministries, Denmark.
Mrs. Mary Louise McMillan, daughter of the late
Ruthie Mae Rickenbacker, was born on November 10, 1948, in Charleston. She received
her education in the Bamberg County school system.
Funeral services for Mrs.
JoAnn Marie Brown Sexton,
58, of Bamberg, who was
retired from the Bamberg
County Detention Center,
were held Friday, April 15, 2011, at Union
Baptist Church in Bamberg. Mrs. Sexton was born March 3,
1953, in Bamberg, to the late
Annie Ruth (Herbert) Wiggins and the late Willie Boynton Sr.
A celebration of the life
of Mrs. Helen Zobel Sox, 97,
of Lexington was held Friday, April 15, 2011,
at St. James Lutheran
Church in Lexington. Mrs. Sox was born
January 14, 1914, in Charleston, to William R.
and Viola Alexander Zobel
and was a graduate of
Memminger High School.
Having the opportunity to
further her education, she
enrolled at Louisiana State
University in Baton Rouge,
where she studied piano and
organ.
