God's Garden, He only takes the best

A memorial service was
held at Uni-Health Post Acute
Care on Wednesday for the
family members of residents that
had passed away over the past
year.
The event was held in the
facilities new memory garden.
The new garden is bright, sunny
and should provide residences
with years of enjoyable
afternoons. Job corps, along
with other local businesses and
organizations, contributed to the
construction of the garden.
Each year the facilities
receive funds to be used for
something the residents can
enjoy. This year’s funds went to
the purchase of a gas grill, so
that cookouts could be part of
the activities the people who live
there can enjoy.
Flowers and a small plaque
for the garden will represent the
residents who passed away this
year. These were funded by
donations from co-workers and
family members.
Administrator Luther
Reeves said that he was grateful
for the opportunity to give back
to the residents and that he looks
forward to the memorial garden
being a place for fun and
relaxation for the residences.
The featured speaker for the
memorial service was the Rev.
Kelly Shanks, pastor of
Ehrhardt Baptist Church.
As he looked around at the
bright flower boxes and the
faces of the family and friends
who were there for the
memorial, Shanks reflected,
“Gods garden must be beautiful
too, because he only takes the
best.”
The touching ceremony
ended with the ringing of a bell
as the name of each resident who
had passed away during the year
was read.
The event concluded with a
good old fashioned cookout for
residents, friends and family
members.
