The patio of Nina’s
Boutique was the place to be
Saturday, April 2nd, as the First
Ladies of various local churches
or their representatives, took to
the runway in support of
Denmark Technical College’s
Foundation “All White Fashion
Show”. Models from the
various churches paraded spring
fashions from Nina’s Boutique
along with musical selections
from the Denmark Technical
College Choir. Under the
direction of Dr. M. Yvette
McDaniel, the jubilant choir was
the heart making certain that the
afternoon was enjoyable for
everyone.
Josephine Caldwell,
president of the DTC
Foundation Board said the
purpose of the fundraiser was to
assist the choir with upcoming
travel expenses related to
performing in the states and
internationally. Last year, the
choir performed at the National
Association for Equal
Opportunity Conference
(NAFEO) in Washington, D.C.
Elvernia Richburg narrated
the event, and JTJ Designs was
on hand to photograph the
action. The following ladies
walked the runway: Reverend
Genardy Haynes, River Fork
Community Church; Minister
Barbara Williams, Central
Missionary Baptist Church; First
Lady Joann Griffin, Orange
Grove and Franklin United
Methodist Churches; First Lady
Joyce Davis, Rome Baptist
Church; First Lady Rose
Shepherd, Bethlehem Olar
Baptist Church; First Lady
Beatrice Cooper, Free Gift
Baptist Church; First Lady
Joyce J. Donaldson, Union

Wright, City of Denmark; Mrs.
Mary A. Tarrant, Eden
Missionary Baptist Church; Mrs.
Linda Grimes, Oakey Spring
Baptist Church and Ms. Eva O.
Manigault, Mt. Zion United
Methodist Church.
Dr. Michael M. Townsend,
president of Denmark Technical
expressed appreciation to the
committee members and Nina’s
Boutique for hosting the event.
Caldwell said “we are a
non-profit corporation that was
reorganized in September 2010.
It is an exclusively educational
and charitable foundation for the
purpose of supporting the
mission of Denmark Technical
College.” Caldwell said all
donations to the foundation are
tax deductible.
Event coordinators were
