Johnnie ‘Neb’ Crider, 84, of
Cope, died at his home on
Friday, February 11, 2011.
Services were held Thursday, February 17, 2011, at
Spring Branch Baptist Church,
Bamberg. He was born December 2, 1926, the son
of the late Nathan Benjamin
Crider and Virginia Zeigler
Crider, in Bamberg County. Mr.
Crider was retired from the
construction industry, where he
worked as a carpenter. Mr. Crider was a veteran of
the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict.
Clyde Sylvester Garrick Jr.,
84, of Norway, died Friday,
February 18, 2011, at the
UniHealth Post Acute Care in
Bamberg. His funeral was held Monday, February 21,
2011, at Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Garrick was born
September 21, 1926, in Norway,
a son of the late Clyde Sylvester
Garrick Sr. and the late Louise
Garrick. He was retired from
Lifetime Doors in Denmark. He
served in the U.S. Army and was
a veteran of World War II.
Mrs. Diane Hightower, 63,
of High Point, N.C., passed
away at her home on February
18, 2011. Linda was a loving wife,
mother and grandmother. She
married Robert Crawford
Hightower of Denmark, S.C. on
August 5, 1966, and had two
wonderful children, Jennifer Lee
and Jon David. Linda was a championship
golfer, winning the Colonial
Country Club Championship
and was a multiple champion of
the Oak Hollow Ladies Association Championship. She
also was invited and played in
the NC State Amateur twice. The funeral service was
held Wednesday, February 23, 2011.
Mrs. Alexina ‘Zig’ Linder
Martin, 83, of Lodge, died
Friday, February 18, 2011, at the
Regional Medical Center in
Orangeburg. She was the widow
of Woodrow Wilson Martin.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 20,
2011, at Carter's Ford Baptist
Church. Mrs. Martin was born May
11, 1927, in Colleton County
and was a daughter of the late
Ansel and Ella Nobles Linder.
She was a member of Carter's
Ford Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs.
Justine Vernice Stephens
McCants, 80, of Bamberg, were
held Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Mount
Carmel United Methodist
Church in Bamberg. Mrs. Justine Vernice
Stephens McCants was a loving
and devout Christian. She was
born on July 7, 1930, in Smoaks
to the late James and Daisy
Jenkins Stephens.
Funeral services for Marvin
Sease, 64, of Charleston, blues
recording artist, were held Thursday, February 17,
2011, at the Leonard E. Dawson
Center in Denmark.
