Dr. Teddy Earl ‘Buddy’
Barker of Denmark died at his
home Sunday, January 9, 2011.
Services were held Thursday, January 13, 2011. Dr. Barker was the son of
the late Earl Barker and Louise
Pearce Barker of Denmark,
where he graduated from
Denmark High School.
The Homegoing celebration
for Marques L. Calhoun, 28, of
Orangeburg, was held Sunday, January 14, 2011, at
Emancipation Missionary Baptist Church in St. Matthews.
Marques was born October
6, 1982, in Bamberg and went
home to be with the Lord
January 11, 2011. Marques
graduated from Calhoun County
High School in the year 2000.
He served faithfully in the
Marines and then joined the S.C.
National Guard.
Mr. C. W. “Larry” Doremus,
89, of Ehrhardt, died Saturday,
January 15, 2011 at Uni Health
PAC in Bamberg.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 18,
2011, in the Ehrhardt Southern
Methodist Church in Ehrhardt.
Mr. Doremus was born
November 10, 1921 in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Mildred
and Wilbur Doremus. He was the founder of Doremus Farms
and was a poultry farmer for 36 years.
Daniel Raynard Glover, Sr.,
49, entered into rest on Sunday,
November 28, 2010 at York
Hospital. Daniel was born on
July 7, 1961 in Jacksonville, FL
to Eula Mae (Carter) Ritter and
the late Dan Glover.
Dr. George Brantley Martin,
Sr., 72, who inspired countless
students in his 36 years as a
professor, died Tuesday, January
11, 2011 at his home in Spartanburg, SC at the age of 72.
George was born in Bamberg, South Carolina on July 21, 1938
to the late Wick and Bonnie Martin.

Henrietta Maybell McMichael
Mount, 90, of Orangeburg, were
held Monday, January 17,
2011, at St. George Baptist
Church in Orangeburg. She was born July 6, 1920,
in Bamberg County, the daughter of the late Henry George
McMichael and the late Claudia Felder McMichael.
The funeral for Albertha
Nimmons, 90, of Denmark, was
held Friday, January 14, 2011, at Honey Ford Baptist
Church in Denmark. She was born December 26,
1920, in Bamberg County. She
attended the Salem-Lime School
in Denmark and was a lifelong
member of Honey Ford Baptist
Church, where she served on the
Missionary Board.
Funeral services for Fletcher
‘Fletch’ Williams, 61, Bamberg
Nursing Center, Bamberg, was
held Thursday, January
13, 2011, at Williams Chapel
Baptist Church, Ehrhardt.
He died Friday, January 7,
2011. Born November 6, 1949, in
Orlando, Fla., ‘Fletch’ as he was
known to his many friends, was
a graduate of the public schools
of Florida. On relocating to
Bamberg, he attended and
graduated from Denmark
Technical College. He served as
vice president of
Bamberg/Hampton Counties
Alumni Chapter of Denmark
Technical College and also as the
women's basketball coach.
