Raymond Allen Byrd, 90, of Bamberg died Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Mr. Byrd was the son of the late Frank Allie Byrd and Maude Alice Warren. He was a lifelong member of the Edisto Baptist Church. He was a disabled veteran, having served in the Army during World War II with the Infantry in the Philippines. A graveside service was held on Sunday, December 19, 2010.

Graveside services for Mrs. Julia Cann, 83, of New York City, formerly of Bamberg, were held Saturday, December 18, 2010, in Bamberg. Mrs. Cann died Monday, December 13, 2010, at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York. She was born January 6, 1927, in Orangeburg to the late James Grayton and Emily Bookard.

Funeral services for Ulysses Jones Sr., 88, of Orangeburg, were held Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Warren Chapel Baptist Church. Ulysses Jones Sr., the son of the late Robert Jones and the late Mrs. Lether Jenkins Jones, was born April 22, 1922, in Bamberg County.

Ricky Lee Killingbeck, 53, of Bamberg, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at his home. Mr. Killingbeck was born in Warsaw, NY to the late Alfred Charles Killingbeck and the late Dorothy Jean Bleile. He was self employed, owned and operated Killingbeck’s Home Improvement.

Maude Smoak Rice, 97, of Bamberg, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Rice was born December 13, 1913, to the late Newton Pinckney Smoak and Alice Kearse Smoak. A graveside service was held Friday, December 17, 2010, at Bamberg County Memory Gardens.

Funeral services for Van Oscar ‘Boot’ Rice Jr., 66, of Blackville, formerly of Bamberg, were held Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Bamberg. Mr. Rice died Friday, December 10, 2010. He was born April 8, 1944, in Bamberg to the late Van Oscar and Juanita Bryant Rice. At an early age, he joined Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Midway community, Bamberg. He attended Richard Carroll High School.

Funeral services for Sammie Lee Sease Sr., 71, of Ehrhardt, were held Thursday, December 16, 2010, at Rizer Chapel United Methodist Church in Ehrhardt. Mr. Sease died Sunday, December 12, 2010, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Born January 18, 1939, to the late Mack and Virginia Sease, he attended the public schools of Bamberg County.
