Funeral services for Myron
Capers, 57, of Bamberg, were held Wednesday,
November 17, 2010, at Gethsemane Baptist Church in
Bamberg. Myron was born to the late
Melvin and Rebecca Capers on
April 7, 1953, in New York City,
N.Y. He accepted Christ at an
early age and joined Gethsemane
Baptist Church of Bamberg.
Myron attended the public schools
of Bamberg County.
Edith Rhumelle Benton
Crider, 83, of Bamberg, died
Sunday, November 14, 2010, at
the Regional Medical Center,
Orangeburg. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November
17, 2010, in Spring Branch Baptist
Church, Bamberg. Mrs. Crider was born
November 9, 1927, in Walterboro,
a daughter of the late James
McDuffy Benton and Sinia C.
Bishop Benton. She was a
homemaker and a member of
Spring Branch Baptist Church,
Bamberg. She was the widow of
Henry Franklin Crider.
Funeral services for Mrs.
Mary Ella Bryant Dickerson, 54,
of Olar, were held at 2 p.m.
Monday, November 15, 2010, at
Bethlehem Missionary Baptist
Church in Olar. Mrs. Mary Dickerson was
born on December 16, 1955, in
Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Mr.
Sammie Taylor Jr. and the late
Mrs. Leola Bryant Taylor. Mrs.
Dickerson received her early
Christian upbringings at the
Bethlehem Missionary Baptist
Church in Olar and later in life she
attended the Bethel Holiness
Church in Barnwell, South
Carolina. She was educated in the
public school system of Denmark-Olar.
Deacon Joseph Carl
Gilchrist, 72, of Blackville, died
Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at
the Regional Medical Center in
Orangeburg. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 13,
2010, at Rome Baptist Church in
Denmark. Deacon Gilchrist was born on
July 2, 1938, in Mullins. He was
the son of the late Rex and
Novella Gilchrist. Deacon
Gilchrist grew up and attended the
public schools in Norfolk, Va. He
spent four years in the U.S. Navy
and, upon his discharge, he moved
to Queens, N.Y.
Johnny Jermaine Sellers, 28,
of Bamberg, died Tuesday,
November 9, 2010, as a result of a
truck accident in Colleton County.
Funeral services were held on
Saturday, November 13, 2010, at
Free Gift Baptist Church in
Bamberg. He was born January 28,
1982, to John Sellers and Johnnie
Mae Haynes-Sellers in Nuremberg, Germany. He was a
2001 graduate of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School in
Bamberg.
Funeral services for Mr. Willie
Leon Sweet III, 40, of Bamberg, were
held on Monday, November 15, 2010,
at 1 p.m. in the Riverfork Church in
Bamberg. Willie was born on November 6,
1970, to Willie and Ada Bell Sweet Jr.
He lived in Bamberg with his wife
Mary E. and son Deonte Emanuel Sweet.
Asbury Francis Wiles, 81, of
Holly Hill, husband of Dorothy
"Dottie" Sweatman Wiles, died
Friday, November 12, 2010, at his
home. Funeral services were held Monday November 15, 2010. Mr. Wiles was born in Elloree, a
son of the late Charlie W. Wiles and
Rosa Hungerpiller Wiles. He was
retired from Georgia Pacific and was
a member of Bethlehem Southern
Methodist Church.
