Mrs. Lillie P. Breeland, 87,
of Ulmer, died Wednesday,
October 20, 2010. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 23,
2010, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Ulmer.
The funeral for Mr. Johnie
R. Jones, 85, of Bamberg, were
held Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Kingdom Life
Ministries of Orangeburg. Mr. Jones was born May 16, 1925,
in Wilson, N.C., to the late Connie and Martha Jones.
The funeral for Mrs. Minnie
Lee Washington-Rice, 85, of
Syracuse, N.Y., and formerly of
Bamberg Midway community,
was held Tuesday,
October 26, 2010, in the Mt.
Zion United Methodist Church
in Bamberg. Mrs. Washington-Rice was born June 27,
1925, in Bamberg County to the
late Seward and Marie Washington.
Funeral services for Ms.
Shannon W. Stokes, 33, of
Columbia, and formerly of Bamberg, were held Saturday, October 23, 2010, at
Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia. Last year, Coach Stokes
received her master of science
degree in counseling from
Webster University, and in 2001,
she received a bachelor of
science degree in physical
education from South Carolina
State University. Coach Stokes
was a 1995 graduate of
Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School
in Bamberg. She was born
November 9, 1976. Shannon served as
president of the SEKOTS
Foundation, a foundation that
her mother founded to primarily
provide college scholarships for
students from Bamberg County.
In addition to many family
members, friends, wonderful co-workers
and loved ones, she will
be remembered and always
loved by her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Douglas Stokes of
Bamberg; her sister and brother in-law, Dr. Kimberly Stokes
Wolfe and William Wolfe of Columbus, Ohio; her brother,
Kyle Stokes and her grandmother Mrs. Frances S.
Johnson of Bamberg.
