Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Modestine Grimes-Hubbard, 66, of Ehrhardt, were held Thursday, August 19, 2010, at Union Baptist Church in Bamberg. She was born December 8, 1943, to the late Jones and Mary Middleton Grimes in Bamberg County.

Mrs. Violet Julia Lee Jeffcoat, 88, formerly of Orangeburg but was a resident of the Calhoun Convalescent Center in St. Matthews, died Thursday, August 19, 2010, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. The funeral was held at Saturday, August 21, 2010. Mrs. Jeffcoat was born February 20, 1922, in Orangeburg County, the daughter of the late Walter Lee Vaughn and the late Marie Morris Vaughn.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Annette Ryant-Moorer, 67, of Cope, were held Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Macedonia AME Church in Cope. Mrs. Jessie Moorer was born in Orangeburg County on July 14, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Otis Ryant Jr. and Annette Vivian Pendarvis-Ryant.

Mrs. Joan Moore, 62, of Denmark, died Saturday, August 14, 2010, at her residence in Denmark. Funeral services were held Friday, August 20, 2010, at Central Baptist Church in Denmark. Mrs. Moore, the daughter of Harvey and Layura Simmons, was born March 11, 1948, in Kinston, N.C.

Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma T. Ramsey, 94, of Bamberg, were held Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Free Gift Baptist Church in Bamberg. Mrs. Ramsey died Monday, August 16, 2010, at her residence. She was born June 4, 1916, to the late Frank and Emma Govan Turner in Bamberg County.

Mr. Chester Allen Ray, 59, of Augusta, Ga., formerly of Denmark, died at his residence on Monday, August 16, 2010. Funeral services were held Friday, August 20, 2010, at Three Mile Creek Church in Ehrhardt. Mr. Ray, son of the late Rev. Tom and Earmer Ray, was born December 26, 1950, in Ehrhardt.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Mae Williams Wardlaw, 52, of Olar, were held Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Ulmer. Mrs. Lizzie was born to the late Herman Williams Sr. and Adrienne Faust Williams on April 6, 1958.

The funeral for Mrs. Lunell Way, 64, of Bamberg, was held Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at St. John Baptist Church in Bamberg. Mrs. Way died Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at Bamberg County Hospital. She was born September 8, 1945, to Nathaniel and Nettie Mae Marsh Sapp.
